His WW II draft registration card, filed April 1942, records Walter Levi McCarty, age 49, residence 15315 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, born 31 Oct 1892 in Scenery Hill, Washington Co., Pennsylvania, nearest relative Mrs. Wahneta Fetheroff, stepdaughter, 1282 East 152nd St., Cleveland, Ohio, employer New York Central Railroad Co., 577 E. 152nd St., Cleveland, Ohio.

There was also a Walter Lindley McCarty, born 11 April 1890 in Washington Co., Pennsylvania, son of John McCarty and Eliza Jane Dague, so be careful not to get them confused.

Jennie and Charles were divorced in 1915. Charlene has a copy of their divorce decree. It states that Charles was the one who sued for divorce, and that the court found in his favor, and granted him custody of 8-year old Wahneta. He, in turn, gave custody to his parents, Adam and Julia, a few months later.

Their grandson Charles Fetheroff says that Jennie moved to Ohio very soon after the divorce. She took work as a secretary, until remarrying four years later.
