Gerald's birth certificate lists his father as Albert Gaylourd, age 32, born in Massilon, Ohio, occupation Electrician.
Massillon is in Stark County. The 1900 and 1910 censuses list no Gaylourd or Gaylord families in Stark Co., and Stark Co. birth records contain no Gaylord/Gaylourd births for 1890-1910. However, the 1910 census shows a Julius Guillord in Stark County, near Canton, with a son Albert aged 10. Julius and his wife were born in Switzerland. The 1900 census lists Julius under the surname "Guillod" with a son Albert b. June 1898. In 1920, Julius is still in Stark County, but Albert is not living with him.
The Social Security Death Index lists Albert Guillod, born 6 Jun 1898, died July 1979 in Canton, Stark Co., Ohio, SSN 297-05-3159 issued in Ohio.
The July 10th 1979 issue of the Canton Repository contains an obituary for Albert J. Guillod. I have sent for a copy of it, but haven’t received it yet.
