Her obituary in the Denver (Indiana) Tribune reported: “BALSBAUGH: Sarah Jane Fisher, daughter of George and Barbara Fisher, was born in Miami County, Ind., Nov. 13th, 1850, and died in the same county, Jan. 12th, 1899, aged 48 years, 1 month and 29 days.  On Jan. 2nd, 1870, she married John H. Balsbaugh.  To this union was born ten children, six girls and four boys, all living.  Her aged mother is also living.  She united with the German Baptist Church in 1872 and lived a constant, consistent Christian until death.  She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother, never forgetting to assist and cheer not only her own family, but anyone that needed assistance or relief.  Funeral services were held in the German Baptist Church, at Mexico, last Saturday, conducted by Elder Musselman, of Carroll County.  Interment in the cemetery near by.”
