Notes for Daniel Frantz Sr.
According to Lowell Beachler, the Daniel Frantz, Sr. family settled four miles west of Springfield in May 1816.

Early Clark County, Ohio Families, Vol. 1, page 167, and Vol. 2, pages 52 and 170.

Listed on page 15 of the Dore M. Frantz burials document.
Notes for Magdalene Garber
The census listings for Magdalena's children variously list the state of their mother's birth as Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. (See notes for her sons and sons-in-law, particularly the Emmanuel Grisso/Elizabeth Frantz family, with whom she was living at the time of the 1850 and 1860 censuses.) The birth place of Salem, Botetourt Co., VA is from various submissions to Early Clark County Families, and probably based on the residence of John Garber in the 1780's.

Listed on page 15 of the Dore M. Frantz burials document. Birth and death dates are from the gravestone. Date of birth may be 1789 instead of 1784 if her age is correct in the 1850 census (perhaps a 9 was misread as a 4 on the stone.)

Family group for Daniel Frantz in Early Clark County Families, Vol. 1, p. 167, submitted by Jess W. Monteith lists John Garber and Barbara Zook as the parents of Magdalena (Garver) (Minnick) Frantz, and says Magdalena was the widow of Peter Minnich. Certainly from primary sources the Magdalena Garber who was the daughter of Elder John Garber was married to Peter Minnick, Sr. in Dec 1813 when John Garber made his will. But several other sources (all secondary) list the Magdalena who married Daniel Frantz as being the widow of Michael Minnick. It could be that one Magdalene Garber, daughter of Elder John Garber, married Peter Minnick, Sr., and another Magdalena Garver, parents unknown, married Michael Minnick, both families settling in Clark Co., Ohio, and they have been confused. Another possibility is that Michael Minnick's wife was not really named Magdalena Garver/Garber.
