Notes for Peter Minnich Sr.
Peter is listed as co-executor in the will of his father-in-law Elder John Garber. But he apparently died about the same time as John Garber, since Peter's own will was written 8 Jan 1814 and recorded 3 June 1814. It lists his wife Magdalene and his children, stated as being from eldest to youngest, as Peter, Mary, John, Magdalene, and Michael, and gives his executors as his son Peter Jr. and his son-in-law John Simmons. Witnesses were Phillip Minnich, Nathaniel Williams, and Phillip Ziegler. The first marriage to an unknown wife is conjectured on the basis that Magdalena the daughter of John Garber was too young to have adult children in 1814 (she would have been 29), and Peter Jr. was old enough to be an executor and Mary was old enough to be married. I do not yet have an indication of the ages of Peter's children John, Magdalene, and Michael, so they may have been children of Magdalene. The marriage date of "ca 1802" is from an article by Don Bowman on p. 80, FoBG Newsletter, V. 25, No. 4, Winter 93-94
