Notes for Johannes Omert
Records of St. Luke's Church, Chanceford twp, York Co., PA include:
Johannes Ohment and wife Anna Maria Henrich have son Johann Henrich b. 14 Jun 1789
Johannes Omet and wife Anna Marie have son Christian chr. 18 Sep 1791
John Omert and wife Anna Maria have dau Elisabeth b. 11 Aug 1794
Johannes Omert has son Johannes b. 26 Feb 1796
Johannes Ament and wife Anna Maria have son Heinrich b. 23 Jan 1803
Johanes Ohment and wife Maria have dau Regina b. 1804

It is not clear whether this represents two Johns, one who used a spelling Ohment/Ament and another who used a spelling Omet/Omert, both with wives named Anna Maria, or whether all these children are in the same family.

If all these records are for the same family, then Johann Heinrich born in 1789 probably died young, as otherwise it would be unlikely that another son would be named Heinrich in 1803. (In German families, when someone had two given names the second one was usually the one they went by, while the first was ceremonial and often John for boys and Anna or Maria for girls.)

Probate record for John Ohmert died 1811 York Co., PA, lists children Jacob, Henry, Rachel, and John Jr., all under 14, and daughter Mary over 14.

If John Jr. in the above record is the Johannes born Feb 1796, he should have been 15 in 1811. Rachel may be Regina.
