Notes for Paul P. W. Figert
The Wabash Plain Dealer reported this item on Friday, Sept. 10, 1999:

SILVER LAKE, Ind. — An elderly rural Silver Lake man drowned Thursday afternoon in northwestern Wabash County. It was as a result of a somewhat bizarre hunting accident, Indiana conservation officers believe. Pronounced dead at the scene was Paul P. Figert, 76. The incident occurred about 4:15 p.m. in a private pond off County Road 1500N, two and a quarter miles west of Ind. 15. Conservation officers report Figert, who lived nearby, told his wife he was going geese hunting and left the home with his shotgun. Officers said they believe he shot a goose and, wading into the pond to retrieve it, got tangled in seaweed and drowned.

The body was recovered about 5:30 p.m. by the North Manchester Fire Department. Also at the scene were units from the Wabash County Sheriff's Department, the county coroner's office, and LifeMed Ambulance Service.

His obituary ran in the same paper the next day:
