Census
My notes for the 1900 Wabash Co. census show that in Chester twp, district 114, family #590 is headed by Clem Heeter (35) & Florence (27), but it is one of the families I did not take full notes for. (I took these notes in 1990, and at the time was concentrating on figuring out my Figert/Arnold line, so didn't take full notes on all related families.)
Notes for Florence Huffman
Index to Wabash Co. death records lists in bk 1949-59, p. 44, line 367, Florence Heeter, d. 11-13-1952, age 64, in N. Manchester, buried in Oak Lawn. The age is very wrong; cemetery and census records agree that she was born in 1872, and thus would be 80. I haven't checked the death certificate itself, but I am sure that this is Florence (Huffman) Heeter, widow of Clement, because it is stretching coincidence to suppose that a different Florence Heeter would die in North Manchester in 1952 and her death certificate say she was buried in Oak Lawn but her stone not be listed in Binnie's books, while Florence Heeter wife of Clement died elsewhere in 1952 but was buried with him in Oak Lawn. It would still be interesting to send for her death certificate, though, to find out if she is related to our great-grandmother Julia Huffman.
