Notes for Earl Heeter
On his marriage license application (Wabash Co. Bk 2, p. 214), the groom Earl Heeter lists his parents as Abner Heeter & Mary Fanning, and his birthdate as 1-3-1886, in Kosciusko Co. I did not take notes on the birthdate or parents of the bride, Nellie Dillman. License issued 20 Apr 1907. The returned license is filed separately, in Bk 15, p. 457. I did not consult it, so it is possible that the actual marriage date was later.

The index to Wabash Co. death records (Bk 1962-66, p. 63, line 563) lists Earl Heeter, d. 11-30-1964, age 78, in Friendly Nursing Home, Wabash. Burial in Oaklawn.

Joint stone in Oaklawn Cemetery for: Heeter Earl 1886-1964 Glenna 1891-1970 (I could not find a marriage record for Earl & Glenna, nor a death or cemetery record for Nellie (Dillman) Heeter. A Nellie Heeter m. Charles W. Kester on 12-24-1914. It is possible that Earl & Nellie were divorced. If so, she married very young the first time, as Nellie Kester's grave stone in Fairview Cem. says she was born in 1894.)

Wabash County History, Bicentennial Edition 1976, p. 394-395, has article by Mary Louise Heeter Leckrone (d/o Earl & Glenna Heeter) on the Silas Heeter family, that reads in part: "Abner lived on the home place and after the death of his wife Mary, his son Earl, wife Glenna and daughters Mary Louise and Betty lived on the farm.... Earl moved to town and he and his brother Glen ran a bakery on Walnut St. Earl later took employment in North Manchester and worked for the town for 28 years as Chief of Police, Supt. of streets and sewers, and Supt. of the Water Dept., all handled by one person at that time."
