Notes for Forrest L. Gresso
In the 1974 estate settlement of his aunt Lillian Grisso, he was recorded as Forrest L. Gresso, El Paso, Texas.

An article in the Las Cruces Sun-News of 28 Jan 1975 reported:

“Forrest Gresso has recently been appointed manager of the White House Department Store in Loretto de Las Cruces Shopping Center.

Gresso moved to Las Cruces from El Paso where he served as manager of the White House in Bassett Center and was president of the Basset Center Merchant’s association for eight consecutive years. Prior to locating in the southwest, Gresso served as general merchandise manager of Nunn-Bush Shoe Co. in charge of their retail division consisting of 167 stores and was liason contact with national accounts.

He is a member of the Las Cruces Lion’s Club and resides at 2600 E. Idaho. His wife Mary, is also associated with the White House. Both he Mary are amateur photographers, members of the Photographic Society of America for which he is the area representative, and they are members of the Dona Ana Camera Club.”

The article is accompanied by a photograph. There are about 20 event announcement articles in 1975 and 1976 from the Camera Club listing Forrest as contact, with his phone number.

The Social Security death index lists Forrest Gresso, b. 24 July 1907, d. Nov 1977, SSN 017-09-9265 issued in Massachusetts, last residence Las Cruces, NM (zip 88001).

His obituary as printed on Wed, 23 Nov 1977 in the Las Cruces Sun-News reported:

“Forrest L. Gresso, 70, 1023 Doe Lane, died Tuesday at Memorial General Hospital. He had been a resident of Las Cruces for three years and was manager of the White House Department Store. He was also active in the Las Cruces Lions Club and the Dona Ana Camera Club.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Graham’s Chapel with the Rev. James Miller of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow Mary, two daughters: Barbara Gresso, Ocomowoe, Wis., and Paula Paley, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; a sister, Mrs. Robert Myers, Warsaw, Ind., and a brother, Frederick N. Gresso, Warsaw, Ind.”

An article in the El Paso Herald-Post of 1 Nov 1965, introducing the members of the Sun Carnival Coronation Set Landscape Committee, opened with a photograph of the seven committee members, one of whom was Mrs. Forrest Gresso. The article included the paragraph “Mrs. Gresso, also a newcomer to Sun Carnival Coronation activity, was born in Springfield, Mass. Mr. and Mrs. Gresso have two daughters, Mrs. Darrel Fishback of Odessa and Mrs. Jeffrey Paley of New York City. Mr. Gresso is manager of the White House in Bassett Center.”
