Notes for Mary Heeter
Mary and her husband John moved to Michigan in 1865. In a letter dated Jan 25, 1874 to her brother Ira, Mary writes deploring the Michigan social scene, where ballroom dances are more frequent than church meetings:

Dear Brother and Sister
i think it has been a long time since i heard from you i out to write oftener and then i mite expect to here from you sometimes i neglect writing very much i know we are all well at present may theas few lines finde you and your famley enjoying the same good blessing we have not had a very hard winter here so far we have had but litle snow compaired to others winters sience we have been here
