Notes for Aaron Quesenberry Jr.
The list of children for Aaron Quisenberry Jr. is from an article by Anderson Chenault Quisenberry on pp. 423-430 of Colonial Families of the United States. He did not indicate which children were by which wife, so some of them may be in the wrong family group. (I have placed those children listed in A.C. Q’s article, but not listed in the will of James Shelton as children of Sally Ellis.) The article is too brief to give sources, but since he was a professional journalist and historian, I am trusting that for the most part it is correct. From his longer books, it is clear that his major sources were probate and land records. I have added additional dates and source notes, mostly from marriage and christening records extracted in the IGI. It seems that A.C.Q. did not have access to some of the church records which later researchers discovered. The birth order is also likely to be incorrect.

[Aaron Jr. appears three times in the LDS Ancestral File as a son of Aaron Quisenberry and Joyce Dudley. As 8LVD-6V, his birthdate is given as about 1746. As NGD2-K3, his birthdate is given as about 1749. And as NCFS-03, his birthdate is given as about 1762. No spouse is linked to any of these individiduals.]
Census
The first census of the United States, which in Orange Co., Virginia was taken in 1782, lists in the district enumerated by William Moore, a household headed by Aaron Quisenberry Jr., containing 8 whites and 5 blacks.
Notes for Rachel Shelton
The name of Aaron's first wife is from christening records for two of their children (David and Winnifred), where she is listed as Rachel Shilton. Since they named one of their sons Aaron Shelton, though, I am using that spelling.

The names of her parents are from her father’s will. She is not mentioned by name in it, so she had apparently died before it was written. But the list of James Shelton’s “Queenberry” grandchildren matches the children of Aaron and Rachel.

Lunenburg Co., Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 228-30. The will of James Shelton, written Feb 28, 1796, recorded Dec 13, 1798, lists wife Jane Shelton, daughters Caty Mason and Mary Harrison, and sons David, Benjamin, Thomas, and Stephen Shelton. Also granddaughters Polly Shelton, Winnifred Queenberry, Polly Bell, and Jane Askew Shelton, and grandsons Stephen Shelton Queenberry, James Queenberry, Thomas Queenberry, Aaron Queenberry, David Queenberry, Duarch (?) Shelton, and Little Berry Shelton. Executors Benjamin, Stephen, and Thomas Shelton.
Witnesses Vincent Shelton, John George, and Mary Smith.
