Notes for Samuel McKee Caudill
He was known as "Little Sam", to distinguish him from his uncle "Big Sam" and his cousin "Squire Sam". He owned and operated a general store in Wrigley, KY, before moving to Morehead. In Morehead he had a garage on the Flemingsburg Road, where Larry Fannin Chevrolet is now.

Twin tragedy ends in funeral for 3

A funeral was held today for Samuel M. Caudill, 78, his twin sister Mrs. Sarah A. Scaggs, and her daughter, Miss Pearl Scaggs, 50.

Mr. Caudill died Monday in a Lexington hospital. Mrs. & Miss Scaggs, enroute from their home in Kankakee, Illionois to attend the funeral, were killed Tuesday evening in an automobile accident at Lewisburg, Mason Co.

Mr. Caudill was born Dec 29, 1870. He married Lucinda Blair at Blair's Mills on May 26, 1893. He leaves a son, Roy Caudill, four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Barker of Ashland; Mrs. Gladys Beckwith of Smithville, Tenn.; Mrs. Anna Reynolds of Clay, and Mrs. Vergie Elam of Morehead. Also six brothers, Dave C., Cornelius P. & D. B. of Morehead, George W. of Lexington, Joseph E. of Palm Beach, Fl; Watson H. of Philadelphia, and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Blair, Morehead.

Blair, b. 1894, age 16, boarder. All born in Ky. (This family is next door to Sam's parents Abel & Mary Ann. Lidda is Lucinda's sister, Lydia Florence Blair. Her birthdate should be Nov 1884.)

1910 census of Morgan Co., Ky, North Fork district, enumerated 18 April, lists on p. 1A as family #3:
Caudill, Sam M., 39, merchant at general store; Loucinda, wife, 35, first mariage for both, married 17 years, mother of 5 children, 4 living; Virgie, dau, 13; Annie, dau, 9; Thelma, dau, 7; Albert, servant, 35, single, salesman at general store. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Albert is Sam’s first cousin, the son of James Caudill and Rebecca McClain.
