Notes for Isaac Hardin Jr.
His death certificate states Issac Hardin, age about 87, birthdate unknown, widowed, “both wives dead”, died 20 March 1930 in Salt Lick, Bath Co., Ky, occupation blacksmith, father Issac Hardin, mother Nancy Crose, cause of death “very weak heart caused by inflammatory rheumatism about 4 or 5 years ago”, informant Joe Goldy, Salt Lick, Ky, burial Jones Cemetery, Salt Lick.

The informant Joe Goldy was the second husband of Isaac and Mary’s daughter Effie.

His gravestone says “Ike Hardin 1836 - 1929”, but it looks fairly modern, so it was probably erected some time after his death. There is a picture on at the Jones Cemetery web site (http://www.jones-cemetery.com/graveinfo.html).
Notes for Mary Myers or McCarty (?)
Most family trees show her maiden name as Myers, but I do not know the source for that. The death certificate of her daughter Barbara Ellen gives her mother’s maiden name as Mary McCarty. But since Mary died when Barbara was still a young child, the death certificate may be in error. (The informant was Barbara’s husband.)
Census Notes for Isaac & Mary (Family)
1870 census of Rowan Co., Pearce precinct, p. 123B, lists as family #27:
Hardin, Isaac, 22, farmer; Mary, 21, married in May; Mary, 19. All born in Ky.
(The younger Mary is Isaac’s sister.)

1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Licking precinct, enumerated 1 June, lists on p. 2 as family #15:
Harden, Isaac, 32, blacksmith; Mary, 29, wife; James D., 9, son; White W., 8, son; Annie E., 5, dau; Effie, 3, dau; William L., son, 9/12, b. Aug. All born Ky Ky Ky.

(In Morgan Co. the same year is an Isaac Hardin age 39 with wife Mary age 26 who should not be confused with this couple.)

In 1900, the only two children of Isaac and Mary who are living with him and his second wife Rebecca are William and Lesley. Nancy Elizabeth and Effie are married, and Walker and Barbara are both living with James and his wife.
