His obituary in the Lexington Herald-Reader of 30 April 2010 reported “Billy Joe Hall, 72, of Greenfield Trail, Mt. Sterling passed away Wed, April 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on July 19, 1937 the son of the late Mahlon and Mary Frances Greer Hall. He was an investment adviser and a member of the First Church of God where he taught the Heritage Class for 40 years. He is survived by his wife Joyce Hall of Mt. Sterling; three sons, James David Hall of Mt. Sterling, Richard A. (Sandra) Hall of Abington, VA, and Michael E. Hall of Dayton, OH; one daughter, Sarah E. (David) Noble of Lexington, KY; one brother, Robert M. Hall of Versailles, KY, three sisters, Jewell Amburgey of Ruckersville, VA, Ruby Ross of Wilmington, OH, and Margaret Sue Anderson of Morehead, KY; five grandchildren, Matthew A. Hall and Katherine Hall both of Abington, VA, Kelsey Hall of Dayton, OH, Andrew Hall of Dayton, OH and Dylan Hall of Mt. Sterling. Funeral services will be 1pm, Sat, May 1, 2010 at the First Church of God with burial following in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morehead. Friends may visit Fri evening from 5-9pm at the church. In lieu of flowers donations suggested to the Montgomery County Education Foundation, First Church of God, Morehead State University Foundation Mt. Sterling Endowment, or the Montgomery County Arts Council.”
