Notes for William “Harrison” Trent
His WWI Draft Registration card, issued in 1917/1918 (the images on Ancestry do not show the side of the card that has the date it was filed), says Harrison Trent, age 21, residence Clayton, Ky, born 9 Jan 1897 in Rowan Co., Ky, father’s birthplace McDowell Co., WV, occupation farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Gladys Trent, wife.
Phil McBrayer's Trent notes, based on data provided by Vada Skaggs Trent, gives William's date of birth as 1/9/1897, which agrees with his draft registration, his Social Security record and his obituary, but in the 1900 census he is listed as as age 4, b. 11/96. (There are so many errors like this in the 1900 census for Rowan Co. that I think the enumerator was lazy and didn't interview many of the families, but rather entered them from his own knowledge and guessed at ages.)
