No cemetery record exists, but a Veterans stone sits on the grave. No death date on stone, no death record in Buffalo, MN. Block 2, Lot 5

Reference Volume Entry 3181, Records of Men Enlisted In US Army Prior to Peace Establishment, May 17, 1815. It says he was 5 ft 10 in. blue eyes, dark hair dark compexion, a farmer, and 24 years old at enlistment.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN By "Lieut Col John Cambell The bearer hereof "SAMUEL PETTIT" having faithfully served in the Army of the United States, and last a private in a detachment under command of CPT Josf C. Bett of the 28th Regiment United States Infantry, for the term of "during the war", for which time he engaged, he is hereby honorably discharged the service of the United States.

To prevent improper use being made of this discharge, here follows the discription of the said Samuel Pettit, five feet ten inches high, dark complexion, light hair, blue eyes and by profession a farmer. Given at Olympian Springs this 31st day of March 1815.
