Notes for John A. Staton
His middle initial was given as A on two censuses, but as E on the death certificate of his daughter Martha.

This suggests that his middle name might be Alexander, for which “Elick” was a common nickname in Kentucky. Or it might be Albert/Elbert, which were also sometimes interchangeable.

His death certificate records John Staton, age 78, born 6 April 1860 in Menifee Co., residence Yale, Ky, died 5 Mar 1939 in Lower Beaver precinct, Menifee Co., Ky, farmer, married, wife’s name Alice, father William Station, mother’s maiden name Salley Ann, cause of death unknown no doctor, informant Ed Robinson, burial in Ginter graveyard.
Notes for Lucinda Pettit
Morgan Co. Birth registers list Lucinda Petitt b. 19 Dec 1852 to Ben Petitt & Mary A. Hall.

Her death date is approximate, estimated only as sometime between Oct 1887, when Martha was born, to 1897, when John remarried to Lizzie Alice. It is more likely towards the earlier end of that range, since she had no known surviving children after Martha. Perhaps I will be able to find a cemetery record in Menifee Co.
