Notes for Alexander ("Alec") P. & Lucy (Family)
Rowan Co. marriage book 6, p. 31, records the marriage on 21 Sep 1906 of Alack Alfrey, 38, residence Midland, occupation sawmilling, s/o Frank & Jane Alfrey, to Lucy Myers, 23, b. Bath Co., d/o Joe & Belle Myers, by J. F. Stamper at his home, witnesses J. W. Stamper and Lulie Stamper.

Census records, however, suggest that Alec and Lucy were married about 1897, when she was only 13 or 14. (They were already listed as married 3 years in the 1900 census.) Perhaps they married twice, or more likely, they lived together as man and wife for some time before officially marrying.
