The Oregon death index lists Everett Petitt, died 4 Dec 1958 in Coos Co., wife Lucy.

His death notice and his obituary, both printed in The World, a local newspaper for the Coos Bay, Oregon area, differed by 10 years on his age. The first, printed on 5 Dec 1958, reported “Funeral services for Everett Petitt, 84, late resident of 2960 Sherman Ave., North Bend, who died Thursday in Mercy Home, will be announced from the Campbell Watkins mortuary. Born in Greenham City, Ky, Mr. Petitt had lived in North Bend many years. He moved to Mercy Home six weeks ago. His wife died here in November 1957.”

The obituary printed the following day reported “Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the chapel of the Campbell Watkins mortuary for Everett Petitt, 74, late resident of 2960 Sherman Av., who died Thursday in Mercy Home.

Pastor Donald McIvor of the Coos Bay Seventh Day Adventist church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Born in Greenham City, Ky, Mr. Petitt came to this area in 1911 and worked as a wood calker for Kruse and Banks Shipbuilding Co.

Survivors are: Sons, Charles, B. W. and Clay of Cooston; daughters, Mrs. Helen Edmunds, Rudyard, Mont.; Mrs. Jessie DeJa, McBride, Mich.; Mirs. Florence Burlincourt, Corvalis, and Mrs. Laura Mae Heer, North Bend; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.”
