This is not intended to be a complete family group. I am entering them only to document the parents of Sabra Susan Roe who married Samuel Crose, son of Abraham Crose and Martha Ann Pettit, my GG Aunt.
Census
1880 census of Carter Co., Ky, precinct 6, enumerated 17 June, lists on p. 30 as family #245:
Wilson, Wm, 65, farmer, b. NC NC NC; Lucinda, wife, 51, b. Va Va Tenn; Maggard, Sabre, 13, adopted daughter, b. Ky Va Va; Roe, Edward, 19, son-in-law, b. Ky Ky Ky, farm laborer; Palina, 29, dau, b. Ky NC Va.
1900 census of Carter Co., Ky, Olive Hill precinct, enumerated June (undated), lists on p. 16A as family #298/311:
Roe, Ned, 40, b. June 1860; Perlina, wife, 49, b. Mar 1851, married 20 years, mother of 8 children, 7 living; Cindia, dau, 17, b. Mar 1883; William H., son, 15, b. Sep 1885; Rebeckia J., dau, 14, b. Feb 1886; Eliza E., dau, 8, b. Feb 1892; Sabra S., dau, 5, b. Sep 1894. All born Ky Ky Ky.
Two households above is the family of James Roe age 68 with wife Margret age 66, married 48 years. They are unlikely to be Ned’s parents, though, because there is a son Edward age 22 living with them, who was also living with them in the 1880 census, listed as 4 then. They are more likely an aunt and uncle. This Edward may be the one who was listed in the 1870 census of Mason Co., Ky, as age 9, with parents William age 39 and Mary age 38.
