In 1870 Thomas and his widowed mother were living with the family of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Robinson, Elizabeth being Thomas’s sister. See census notes for Nathaniel’s family.

1900 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Crackers Neck precinct, enumerated 25 June, lists on p. 18A as family #296:
Dehart, Thomas, 46, b. Aug 1853, Va/Va/Va; Malinda, wife, 46, b. Oct 1853, Ky/Ky/Ky, married 28 years, mother of 12 children, 10 living; Olley B., dau, 16, b. Apr 1884, Ky/Va/Ky; Oliver L., son, 14, b. Sep 1885, Ky/Va/Ky; John E., son, 12, b. Oct 1887, Ky/Va/Ky; Arthur, son, 10, b. Sep 1889, Ky/Va/Ky; Estill, son, 2, b. (The birthdates for the children seem to be largely fictitious, apparently invented by the enumerator, as they are inconsistent with Elliott Co. birth records and gravestone inscriptions.)

1910 census of Elliott Co., Ky, precinct 8, enumerated 22 April, lists on p. 4A as family #63/65:
Dehart, Thomas M., 56; Malinda, 56, married 38 years; Olliver, son, 25; John, son, 22; Arthur, son, 19; Estell, son, 11; Dasie M., adopted, 7. Thomas is listed as born Va Va Va, all others as born Ky Ky Ky, although his children should have their father’s place of birth listed as Va.

1920 census of Elliott Co., Laurel precinct, enumerated 29 Jan, lists on p. 7B as family #120:
Dehart, Estelle (male), 21, b. Ky Va Va, farmer; Lindy, mother, 65, widowed, b. Va Va Va; Charlie, nephew, 17, b. Ky Ky Ky; Myrtle, niece, 16, b. Ky Ky Ky.
