Notes for Edward Cox
His WW I draft registration card, filed 5 June 1917, records Edward Cox, age 27, residence Clayton, born 9 Aug 1889 in Clayton, Ky, farmer, married supporting a wife and 3 children.

His death certificate records Edward Cox, age 32 years 5 months 10 days, born 15 May 1886 in Kentucky, died 25 Oct 1918 in Laurel precinct, Rowan Co., Ky, father Johnie Cox, mother’s maiden name Abagill Crisp, both born in Kentucky, cause of death influenza, burial in Cox Cemetery.

Since he was listed in the 1900 census as age 10, born in Aug 1889, and in the 1910 census as age 20, it is likely that the recorded birthdate and age at death are incorrect.
Notes for Mary Jane Ferguson
I cannot find a death record for her, but she probably died before 1930, when the younger children were living in an orphanage in Louisville.
Notes for Edward & Mary Jane (Family)
Elliott Co., Ky annuel report of marriages for 1910 list the marriage on 7 March 1910 of Ed Cox, age 20, residence Rowan Co., farmer, born in Rowan Co., son of John & Abigail, to Mary J. Ferguson, age 21, residence Elliott Co., both parents born in Morgan Co. (The names John and Abigail are in the columns for birthplace of groom’s parents; apparently the clerk did this specifically to distinguish him from the other Edward Cox, whose marriage to Mary Conn was recorded on the same page.)

Many family trees mistakenly identify this couple with the James Edward Cox Jr. who married Mary Conn, daughter of Samuel Harrison Conn, and who was nearly the same age, and also sometimes known as Edward. That family, though, was listed together with James Edward’s parents James E. Cox Sr. & Martha Creech in the 1910 and 1920 censuses.
