Notes for William ("Willie") C. Crose
His WWI Draft Registration card, filed 5 June 1917, records Willie Crose, age 24, residence Cogswell, Ky, born 7 Sep 1892 in Clayton, Ky, occupation farming, self-employed, married supporting a wife and two children.

Social Security Death Index lists Willie Crose, b. 7 Sep 1890, d. Sep 1968, SSN 232-12-1567 issued in WV, last residence zip 25009 (Ashford, Boone Co., WV). (The month of birth is inconsistent with the 1900 census, which lists May 1890.)

Unless otherwise noted, remaining information on this family is from Howard D. Crose.
Notes for Opal Lambert
There were only two Opal Lamberts that I could find in the 1920 and 1930 censuses of Rowan and surrounding counties.

One was the Opal Lambert who was listed as age 7 in the 1920 Fleming Co census and age 18 in the 1930 Fleming Co census as a daughter of Tobias Lambert and Minnie Scaggs. Neither of these listings is consistent with the 11 Mar 1917 birthdate that I got from Howard Crose’s database.

The other is the Opal Lambert who was listed as age 11 in 1930 with the family of Oliver and Rachel Lambert. But that Opal married Berlin Black and is buried with him, which rules her out.

Since I do not have any indication of where Howard got the 1917 birthdate, and I cannot find any other possibility for Willie’s wife, I am going to change the birthdate to 1912 and assume that Willie’s wife was Tobias’ daughter. But it is tentative pending further evidence.
