Notes for John C. Catron
John was a grandson of Stephen Catron and Emily B. Poole, but I do not know who his parents were.

His death certificate records John C. Catron, age 88 years 10 months 22 days, born 16 April 1864, place unknown, parents unknown, died 8 Feb 1954 in Orgas, Boone Co., West Virginia, usual residence Highcoal, Boone Co., West Virginia, widowed, occupation coal miner, cause of death coronary occlusion, informant Bee Chapman, burial in Weedy Cemetery, Bickmore, W. Virginia.

(The reported age at death would imply a birthdate of 17 March 1864, but was apparently calculated wrong.)
Census
1870 census of Menifee Co., Kentucky, Dry Ridge precinct, enumerated 11 July, lists on p. 9 as family #61:
Catteron, Stephen, 57, farmer; Emely, 57; James, 15; William, 13; John, 5. All listed as born in Virginia, although later records for John say that he was born in Kentucky.

1880 census of Menifee Co., Kentucky, Ridge precinct, enumerated 14 June, lists on p. 38 as family #313/329:
Catron, Stephen, 66, b. Va Va Va, farmer; Emily B., 67, wife, b. Va Va Va; William C., 24, son, b. Va Va Va, merchant, married; Mary, 19, wife crossed out replaced by granddau, married, b. Ky Va Ky; Alford P., 7/12, b. Nov, grandson; John C., 16, grandson, b. Ky Va Ky.
Notes for Lucinda Hammons
Her death certificate records Lucinda Catron, age 57 years 11 months 19 days, born 1 March 1974 in Kentucky, died 20 Feb 1922 in Pleasant district, Clay Co., West Virginia, married, wife of John Catron, father Josh Hammon, mother’s maiden name Elizabeth Hammon, both born in Kentucky, cause of death paralytic stroke, burial in Reedy Cemetery.
Notes for John C. & Lucinda (Family)
Rowan Co. marriage register A, p. 30, records the marriage on 20 April 1890 of John C. Catron and Loucinda Hammonds.
Census
This family was apparently recorded twice in the 1900 census:

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 12 June, lists on p. 9B as family #180:
Catron, John, 36, b. Apr 1864, laborer at saw mill; Loucinda, wife, 26, b. March 1874, married 11 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Alford, son, 9, b. Aug 1890; Elizabeth, dau, 6, b. Apr 1894. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 28 June, lists on p. 22B as family #423:
Catron, John, 38, b. Apr 1862, farmer; Lucinda, wife, 25, b. Jan 1875, married 9 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Alferd, son, 7, b. Feb 1893; Lizzie, dau, 5, b. March 1895. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Note that John and Lucinda were really married in April 1890, making the number of years married really 10, splitting the difference between these two readings. The birthdates for John and Lucinda on the first listing are consistent with their death records, while those on the second reading are not, so the dates on the first listing may be more reliable for the children as well.

1910 census of Kanawha Co., West Virginia, Cabin Creek district, enumerated 28 April, lists on p. 20B as family #344:
Catron, John, 45, b. Ky Va Tenn, miner; Lucinda, wife, 36, b. Ky Va Ky, first marriage for both, married 20 years, mother of 6 children, 4 living; Alfred, son, 18; Elizabeth, dau, 17; Bula M., dau, 4; Herbert, son, 1; all children born Ky Ky Ky; Hammons, Robert, boarder, 35, single, b. Ky Ky Va, miner.

Robert is Lucinda’s brother; he should have been listed as brother-in-law.

1920 census of Kanawha Co., West Virginia, Cabin Creek district, enumerated 2 Feb, lists on p. 15A as family #97:
Catron, John, 56, b. Ky Va Ky, coal miner; Lucinda, wife, 44, b. Ky Ky Ky; Alfred P., son, 29, b. Ky Ky Ky, married, coal miner; Elizabeth, dau, 26, married, b. Ky Ky Ky; Herbert, son, 11, b. Ky Ky Ky; Lillian, dau, 8, b. WVa Ky Ky; Woodrow, son, 4 2/12, b. WVa Ky Ky; Eva, dau, 2 1/12, b. WVa Ky Ky; Hammonds, Robert, 42, single, boarder, b. Ky Ky Ky, coal miner. Plus three unrelated male coal miners listed as boarders.

Their son Alfred is also enumerated the same year in Raleigh Co., WV with his wife and children.

1930 of Clay Co., West Virginia, Pleasant district, enumerated 8 April, lists on p. 7A as family #114/121:
Catran, John, 65, age at first marriage 25, b. Ky Ky Ky, loader at coal mine; Lucinda, wife, 55, age at first marriage 15, b. Ky Ky Ky; Lillion, dau, 17, b. Va Ky Ky, laborer at glass plant; Woodrow, son, 16, b. W.Va Ky Ky, coal miner; Eva, dau, 12, b. W.Va Ky Ky.

John is also listed in Greenbrier Co., WVa with their son Herbert; apparently while visiting.
