His obituary in the Dayton Daily News of 14 Sep. 2010 reported:

“SORRELL, Glen V. age 93 of Somerset KY, passed away Saturday September 11, 2010 in Lexington, KY. Glen was born March 13, 1917 in Menifee County, KY to the late Farmer and Elizabeth Sorrell. Glen was a WWII veteran and served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. For the majority of his life, Glen lived in Miamisburg, OH and was a member of the Teamsters Union for 43 years until retiring to Somerset KY. He was a long-time fan of the Cincinnati Reds, loved to play poker, travel the country, and fish all with his dog by his side.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Art, Bud, Charles, Edith, Blanche and Dorothy. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Mick and Libby Sorrell of Loudon, TN; brother Bob Sorrell of Germantown; sister Katie Davis of Middletown; grandson, granddaughter in law and great granddaughter Brian, Christy and Hayden Sorrell of Friendsville, TN and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services at the Arpp & Root Funeral Home 29 N. Main St. Germantown. Burial Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.”

Menifee Co., Ky marriage book 21, p. 12, records the marriage on 29 May 1937 of Glenn Sorrell, age 21, single, residence Germantown R.R. 1, born in Menifee Co., son of F. H. Sorrell & Lizzie Sorrell, to Bessie Pettit, age 18, residence Yale, Ky, born in Bath Co., daughter of Amos Pettit & Anna Mae Pettit (now Johnson), at Ezel by Ray M. Davis, minister of the United Presbyterian church, witnesses Audrey Johnson and Elizabeth Petitt.

(Ezel is in Morgan Co., so the marriage took place in a different county than the license was issued.) The witness Elizabeth Petitt was Bessie’s sister (their names are really spelled differently on the marriage record. She and Audrey Johnson married six weeks after Glenn and Bessie did.
