Station, Joe, 23, laborer at saw mill; Martha A., wife, 22, first marriage for both, married 4 years, mother of 3 children, 3 living; Vernie M.,dau, 3; Ray, son, 2. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The reason Martha is recorded as the mother of 3 living children even though there are only two listed in the household is that their daughter Lorene was born ten days before the census visited the household, but nine days after the April 15 cutoff to be included. (The instructions for the parenthood column do not say whether births or deaths of children after the official census date are to be counted.)

Their son Ray is two households above with his wife Opal. Jack is really the son of Verna, not of Joe and Martha.
