Notes for Thomas Jefferson Parsons
His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Thomas Jefferson Parsons, age 44, residence Monaville, Logan Co., W. Va, born 5 Sep 1874, occupation machine runner, employer Logan Mining Co., nearest relative Martha Parsons, same address.

His death certificate records Thomas Jefferson Parsons, age 67 years 29 days, born 18 Mar 1872 in Wayne Co., West Virginia, died 16 Apr 1939 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, residence Betsey Lane, Ky, widower of Martha Parsons, father Albert Parsons, mother’s maiden name Cynthia Hobbs, both born in W Va, cause of death carcinoma of prostate with metastasis to bones and lungs, informant James A. Parsons, burial in Glen Rest.

The year of birth is probably incorrect. He was recorded in the 1880 census as age 5, in the 1900 census as age 25 born in Feb 1875, and on his WW I draft card as born 5 Sep 1874 (there were not two Thomas J. Parsons of that generation in West Virginia.) It is probably that his family simply did not keep track of his birthdate.
Notes for Sarah Evelyn Cox
Her death certificate records Sarah Smock, age 63 years 11 days, born 21 April 1887 in Olive Hill, Ky, died 2 May 1950 in Betsy Layne, Floyd Co., Kentucky, widowed, father Grider Cox, mother’s maiden name Sabra Cagley, cause of death cancer of bones, cervix and breast, informant Mrs. Grace Boggs Hoskins, burial in Lewis-Stanton Cem, Betsy Layne, Ky.

Census Notes for Thomas Jefferson & Sarah Evelyn (Family)
Thomas and Sarah probably divorced shortly before his death, because Sarah’s death certificate records her surname as Smock, and Thomas’s death certificate records him as the widower of his first wife Martha.
