Notes for John Turner Williams
Known as “Mean John T”, he was convicted of the attempted murder of his son William and grandson Ival, and sentenced to prison. (I do not know the date.) Ironically, William was later murdered in June 1932 by Clinton Pierce, while John T. was serving a prison sentence for the earlier murder attempt.

His death certificate records John T. Williams, age 73 years 6 months 24 days, born 1861 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 24 July 1934 at Kentucky State Reformatory, Frankfort, Franklin Co., Ky, husband of Lizzie Williams (deceased), laborer, father Bill Williams (deceased), mother’s maiden name Lizzie Williams (deceased), birthplaces blank, cause of death mitral inificiency, informant Mr. Elmer Deatherage, Supt. Kentucky State Reformatory, burial in prison ground.

The reported age at death would imply a birthdate of 31 Dec 1860.
Notes for <unknown> Click
William C. Click/William’s mother is apparently one of the daughters of James Click and his first wife Letha, because William was listed in the 1900 census with James and his second wife Sarah, with the relationship given as grandson. But since the only daughter that I can find in any later censuses is Amanda, Willie’s mother could be any of the three older daughters, Sarah M, Minnie Ann, or Eliza J.

It is most likely that she and John Turner Williams were not married, since William went alternatively by Click and Williams. This was a very common pattern for children born out of wedlock whose fathers were acknowledged.

Very little weight should be given to the name “Lizzie Williams” for John Turner William’s deceased wife on his death certificate. Since he was 73 at the time of his death, it is likely that Lizzie is someone whom he married long after 1882 (if it is not just an error.)
