His gravestone in Hogtown Cemetery says “Father, W. C. Williams, 1882 - 1932”

William also sometimes went by the surname Click (he is so recorded in the 1920 census and in the birth and death records of some of his children who died young), because his mother was a Click and he was raised by her parents.

He cannot be the same person as the Willie Click born Jan 1882 who was the son of Hulda Click, though, because that Willie Click died in 1943 of nephritis.

He is probably the following William Click:

1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 1 June, lists on p. 1A as family #5:
Click, Jas, 65, b. Oct 1834, farmer; Sarah, wife, 46, b. May 1844, mother of 1 child, 0 living; William, grandson, 18, b. Jan 1882.

This would make him a son of one of James Click’s daughters by his first wife Letha.

The Jan 1882 birthdate is a curious coincidence with Willie Click son of Hulda Click of Elliott Co., who was listed with Hulda in 1900.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 26 April, lists on p. 8B as family #133:
Williams, Willie, 27, blacksmith; Laura, wife, 22, first marriage for both, married 6 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Lena M., dau, 3; Alta, dau, 11/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 28 Jan, lists on p. 15B as family #283/286:
Click, Will, 38, farmer; Flora, wife, 35; Lena, dau, 13; Alta, dau, 11; Ina, dau, 4; John, son, 2 6/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The daughter Ina should be a son Ival. The given name Flora is also in error, since there are several births recorded after 1920 with the mother’s maiden name Laura Roberts, including the son Lowell who is with Willie in 1930.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, enumerated 7 April, lists on p. 2A as family #28/29:
Williams, Willie, 45, divorced, farmer; Alta, dau, 20; Ivel Wayne, son, 15; John Edward, son, 10; Lowell R., son, 7. All born Ky Ky Ky.
