His WW I draft registration card, filed 11 Sep 1918, says Joe Tom Pettit, age 38, residence West Liberty, Ky, born 8 Feb 1880, occupation farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Neoma Pettit.
There is a stone in the New Sill Cemetery on Christy Creek Rd. in Rowan Co. that reads "Joe Tom Pettit 1881-1947". It is adjacent to a stone for "Neoma Pettit 1883-1926". I have not found a marriage record for them.
His death certificate records Joseph T. Pettit, age 68 years 10 months 16 days, born 9 Feb 1880 in Morgan Co., Ky, died 25 Dec 1947 in Concord township, Ross Co., Ohio, widowed, father Jackson Pettit, mother’s maiden name Lulu Bayes, both born in Ky, cause of death circulatory failure due to chronic myocarditis, informant Mrs. John Pettit, 524 E. Elm St., Washington C.H., Ohio, burial in Nusill, Ky.
The 1880 census lists Jackson Pettit with a son Peter Bruce born March 1880. So either the name of “Peter Bruce” was changed to Joseph Tom, or else the birthdate of 1880 is incorrect on both his draft registration and death certificate, and the 1881 on the gravestone is the correct one.

The 1900 census listed her birthdate as March 1891, with a twin brother Kelly. His draft registration card gave his birthdate as 29 Jan 1891. So they were probably both born on either 25 or 29 Jan 1891.
