The SSDI lists Coleman McClain, born 13 June 1890, died Mar 1963, last residence Kentucky, SSN issed in Illinois before 1951.

The Kentucky death index lists Coleman McClain, age 72, died 15 Mar 1963 in Fayette Co., residence Montgomery Co.

In 1930 he was recorded in Cleveland ward 3, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, as Colman McClain, age 38, roomer, b. Ky Ky Ky, married, age at first marriage 19, fireman on locomotive, in a household headed by Charles and Margaret Sole, with five other roomers. (It’s a strange neighborhood. Of the eight households on the page, five of them are headed by a married couple or widow with no children and 2 to 8 unrelated adult roomers, yet none of the household heads is listed as running a boarding house. And the two neighboring pages look the same way.)

In 1940 he was recorded in Kankakee, Illinois with his son Ollie as Colman McClain, 49, b. Kentucky, widowed, helper loading trucks, living in same place in 1935.

They apparently divorced sometime after George’s birth (and after Coleman registered for the draft on June 1917), but before May 1918, when Coleman remarried.

McClain, George, 45, second marriage, married 10 years, farmer; Viola, wife, 43, first marriage, married 10 years, mother of 4 children, 3 living; Colman, son, 19, married 1 year; Loue E., dau-in-law, 17, first marriage for both, married 1 year, mother of 1 child, 1 living; Carmie, dau, 17; Iva, dau, 6; Ina, dau, 6; Eva, dau, 3; enfint, granson, 0/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The infant grandson would be Fred.

1920 census of Kankakee Co., Illinois, Ganeer township, enumerated 3 Jan, lists on p. 4A as family #84/86, on Mulberry St.:
McLane, Luella, 27, widowed, b. Ky Ky Ky; Fred, son, 9, b. Ky Ky Ky; Grace, dau, 8, b. Ind Ky Ky; Alvin, son, 4, b. Ill Ky Ky; Milan, son, 2, b. Ill Ky Ky.

Luella was not really widowed, but divorced.
