Notes for Patrick Toy
His death certificate records Pat Toy, age 71 years 7 months 14 days, born 4(*) Mar 1861 in Ky, died 21 Nov 1933 in Sherburne precinct, Bath Co., Ky, widowed, father Andy Toy, mother’s maiden name Jane Hatton, both born in Ky, cause of death apoplexy, informant Andy Toy, Owingsville, Ky, burial in Woodard, Ky.

Although the day of birth appears to say 4, it was probably intended as 7, since his twin brother Joseph’s death certificate reports his birthdate as 7 Mar 1861, and since the age at death would imply the 7th as well.
Census Notes for Patrick & Elizabeth “Bettie” (Family)
1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville precinct, enumerated 5 June, lists on p. 4B as family #80:
Toy, Pat, 39, b. Mar 1861, miner; Bittie, wife, 37, b. Jan 1863, married 21 years, mother of 11 children, 10 living; Arthur, son, 18, b. Apr 1882; Mary, dau, 15-16 (5 and 6 overwritten), b. Sep 1884; Andrew, son, 14, b. Aug 1885; Lillie, dau, 12, b. Oct 1887; LeAttie, dau, 10, b. Sep 1889; Julia, dau, 8, b. Apr 1891; Ambros, son, 5, b. Aug 1895; Richard, son, 3, b. Apr 1897; Luda, dau, 8/12, b. Sep 1899; Tincher, Angline, mother-in-law, 73, b. Feb 1827, widowed, mother of 5 children, 2 living.

Note that the ages reported for Julia and Ambros are inconsistent with their reported birthdates. The age for Mary seems to have been changed from 16 to 15 to create consistency, but judging by other records (such as her gravestone, which says 1883) and the child spacing (there are only 11 months between Sep 1884 and Aug 1885, which is possible but uncommon especially in an era when premature infants seldom survived), the correction should probably have been made to the birth year instead.

1910 census of Bath Co., Ky, Bethel precinct, enumerated 20 April, lists on p. 5B as family #59/62:
Toy, Pat, 40, widowed, farmer; Arthur, son, 26; Andy T., son, 18; Ambrose, son, 15; Richard, son, 12; Julia, dau, 13; Sudie M., dau, 7. All born Ky Ky Ky, all sons listed as farm laborers.
