Notes for Jonathan Jones Day
His death certificate records John J. Day, age 70 years 8 months 2 days, born 21 April 1848 in Kentucky, died 24 Dec 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri, address 4015 Greer Ave, resident of city for 30 years, married, husband of Lizzie A. Day, father Squire Day, mother’s maiden name Maranda Jones, both born in Kentucky, cause of death cancer of intestines, arterio-sclerosis and cirrhosis of liver, informant Mrs. Lizzie A. Day, same address, burial in Valhalla Cemetery.
Notes for Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ann Brown
Her death certificate records Elizabeth A. Day, age about 81, birthdate not known, born in Kentucky, died 20 June 1944 at Halls Ferry Memorial Hospital, Baden Station, St. Louis Co., Missouri, length of stay in hospital 6 months, usual residence 4456 Floriss Place, St. Louis, Missouri, length of residence in community 40 years, widow of John J. Day, father Joseph Brown, mother’s maiden name not known, both born in Kentucky, cause of death myocarditis, informant Leonard A. Day, 4456 Florris Place, burial in Vallhalla Cemetery.

I cannot find a good match in the 1870 census, not even under the assumption that Leonard may have reported her father’s name wrong. (She cannot be the same as Elizabeth Brown daughter of John Coley Brown and Rebecca Crose of Morgan and Rowan counties, although the age fits, because that Elizabeth Brown was still living with her parents in the 1880 census, when this Lizzie was already married to Jonathan Day. There was also an Elizabeth Brown born 10 Oct 1859 in Bath Co., daughter of John A. Brown and Mary J. Moffet, but she apparently died before 1870, when the family is living in Putnam Co., Indiana, with her twin Lanville age 9, but without her.)
