Notes for John & Eliza Jane (Family)
Bath Co., Ky marriage books list the marriage of John White and Eliza Perry on 9 June 1867.
Census
1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Cross Roads precinct, enumerated 30 June, lists on p. 11 as family #74:
White, John, 26, farmer; Eliza, 35; William, 2; Perry, Marshall, 14 ;James, 12; John, 10; Mary, 8. All born in Kentucky.

According to Morgan Co. birth records, James was born in Sep 1859 and would therefore really be 10. So the ages for the other Perry children are probably younger than recorded here as well.

They are apparently recorded twice in 1880 four days and four pages apart, both times with Eliza’s children by Daniel Perry listed under the surname White. (I do not know if they took the name of their stepfather or if this is just a recording error.)

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 8 June, lists on p. 10 as family #89/92:
White, John, 35, farmer; Eliza, 45, wife; Mary, 16, dau; William, 13, son; Sarah E., 3, dau; Nora, 2, granddau; John 20, stepson; Thomas, 18, stepson.

The four households before them are all headed by McCarty’s. The following family is headed by W. P. Ramey, age 35, with wife Dalila.

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 12 June, lists on p. 14 as family #127/131:
White, John, 33, farmer; Eliza J., 44, wife; Marshal, 23, son; James, 21, son; John, 19, son; Mary, 17, dau; William, 13, son; Sarah E., 2, dau. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Immediate neighbors are the familes of A. J. Thompson age 24 with wife Marthy age 20, and Henry Copher age 62 with wife Polly age 50. The household before A. J. Thompson is headed by John Click age 50 with wife Catherine age 40.

Note that the two oldest Perry stepsons, Marshall and James, do not appear in the first listing. Probably they were starting their own farm, and their mother and her second family sometimes lived with them, and sometimes not.
