His gravestone, an old one, is inscribed “George Moore Born Jan. 9, 1848 Died Aug. 16, 1906”

Her death certificate records Rutha Jane Moore, age 74, birthdate don’t know 1848, born in Peary Co., Ky, died 9 Sep 1922 in Farmers, Rowan Co., Ky, widdow, father Wm Gayheart, mother’s maiden name Linda Mosley, both born in Ky, cause of death paralysis, informant W. J. Moore, Farmers, Ky, burial in home farm.

Their gravestones have identical birthdates for them. This is somewhat unlikely, given that they are not listed as the same age on any of the three censuses where they appear together - one would assume that if they knew their birthdates to be identical, they would have reported their age the same each year. More likely their real birthdates were not known, and so their grown children decided to celebrate them on the same day for convenience. Barring any other evidence, we may as well do the same.

The preceding household is headed by Isaac Moore age 52 and wife Cela age 52, both born in North Carolina. Also on the page are families headed by William Gahart age 32 with wife Mary 37, and Henderson Gahart age 28 with wife Harriet 22.

Their son William J. Moore is two households below, listed as age 39 (or 37) with wife Mary J. (Deboard) age 39.
