Notes for Alfred M. Hall
His death certificate records Alfred Hall, age 81 years 7 months 15 days, born 7 Mar 1859 in Floyd Co., Ky, died 22 Oct 1940 in Olive Hill, Clark Hill precinct, Carter Co., Ky, occupation shoe cobbler, married, husband of Frankie Hall, father Riley Hall, mother’s maiden name Hannah Justice, both born in Ky, cause of death Bright’s Disease, informant Stewart Hall, OIive Hill, Ky, burial in Olive Hill, Ky.
Census
In 1930 he was recorded with his son Stewart as Alfred Hall, father, age 71, married.

In 1940 he was recorded with his son Stewart as Alfred Hall, father, 81, married, living in Floyd Co., Ky in 1935.
Notes for Frances Elmira Perry
Her death certificate records Francis Perry Hall, age 76 years 5 months 9 days, born 9 May 1857 in Ky, died 19 Oct 1836 in Clark Hill, Carter Co., Ky, widow of Alfred Hall, father Hence Perry, mother’s maiden name Mary Perry, both born in Ky, cause of death lobular pneumonia, informant S. Hall, Olive Hill, Ky, burial in Olive Hill.

Francis was not really widowed, but divorced. Alfred was still living. (It was a common fiction in those days after a divorce for women to present themselves as widowed, while men often claimed to be single.)

The reported birth year is off by one or two years; she was recorded in the 1860 census as Almira F. Perry, age 1, and in the 1870 census as Elmyra Perry age 12. (Her gravestone inscription, which gives her name as Frances E. Hall, is wrong in the other direction - it has the birth date May 9, 1860.)

Her parentage is uncertain: the wife of Robert Henderson “Hense” Perry was not Mary Perry, but Amanda Howard. In 1860, “Almira” is the youngest child in the Henderson Perry household, but the household also includes Henderson and Amanda’s unmarried daughter Mary C. Perry and her out-of-wedlock daughter by Ira Tabor, Amanda H. Perry age 2. Frances may be another daughter of Mary’s. On the other hand, she is not recorded with Mary in the 1870 census, while Amanda and two younger children are. Nor is she living with Robert Henderson Perry and his second wife Sarah (nee Salyers.) She is instead living with Robert and Amanda’s son James and his wife Lydia. Pending further evidence, I’ve linked her into both possible families, as a tentative link.
Census
1870 census of Carter Co., Ky, precinct 3, Grayson P.O., enumerated 18 July, lists on p. 11 as family #70/65:
Perry, James, 26, farmer; Lydia, wife, 20; Mary, 5/12; Elmyra, 12. All born in Kentucky.

James is either Elmira’s brother or her uncle, depending on who her parents were. (Ancestry.com has indexed the family’s surname as Penz, and Elmyra as “Elmzrs”, which you can imagine made this record hard to find.)
Notes for Alfred M. & Frances Elmira (Family)
Carter Co., Ky marriages report for 1878 lists the marriage on 26 Dec 1878 of Alfred Hall, age 19, born in Floyd Co., Ky, to Francis L. Mury, age 19, born in Carter Co., Ky, first marriage for both.

The death certificates of Frances and of their children are consistent in giving her maiden name as Perry. Her middle name, however, was Elmira. The clerk apparently misinterpreted a spoken “Francis Elmurie” as being her middle initial and surname rather than two given names.

Alfred and Frances were separated by 1910, but they may not have offiically divorced until around 1931 or 1932.
Census
1880 census of Carter Co., Ky, Olive Hill precinct, enumerated 30 June, lists on p. 18 as family #153/154:
Hall, Hannah, 41, widowed, farmer; Alison, 18, son; Riley, 16, son; Thomas, 14, son; Henry, 12, son; Polly A., 10, dau; Eliza J., 8, dau; Reuben, 6, son; James H., 4, son; Darkey, 1, son; Alfred I. M., 20, son, works on farm; Francis F., 20, dau-in-law; Charlie, 8/12, b. Nov, grandson. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1900 census of Carter Co., Ky, Olive Hill precinct, enumerated 2 June, lists on p. 22B as family #425/444:
Hall, Alfred, 41, b. Mar 1859, Ky Ky Ky, farmer; Francis A., wife, 41, b. May 1859, Ky Ky Va; Charles R., son, 20, b. Nov 1879; Solomon E., son, 19, b. June 1881; Seany C., dau, 15, b. Oct 1884; Lusina, dau, 14, b. June 1886; Thomas M., son, 9, b. Sep 1890; Stewart A., son, 6, b. Nov 1893; Jircey L., dau, 5, b. Oct 1894; Liddia M., dau, 4, b. Mar 1896; Henry C., son, 1, b. Apr 1898. All children born Ky Ky Ky.

The daughter named Lusina was, according to later records, usually called Sina or Sinnie. It must have been confusing for the family to have one daughter called Seany and another called Sinnie.

1910 census of Carter Co., Ky, Olive Hill precinct, enumerated 3 May, lists on p. 14B as family #209:
Hall, Frances E., 49, widowed, no occupation, mother of 11 children, 8 living, b. Ky Va Ky; Thomas, son, 19, laborer at brick yard; Stewart, son, 17, laborer at brick yard; Versie L., dau, 15; Lydia M., dau, 14; Seble, dau, 13. Hensley, Alfred, boarder, 16, laborer at brick yard. All children born Ky Ky Ky.

Frances was not really widowed, but divorced or separated. Alfred outlived her by 5 years, dying in Oct 1940. The daughter Seble should be a son, the same one recorded as Henry C. in the 1900 census.

I have not located Alfred in 1910 or 1920. In 1920, Frances was living with their son Seble.

In 1930 Alfred was living with their son Stewart, and Frances was living with their son Seble. Both are recorded as married.
