Notes for Abednego Absalom Kiser
His given name appears variously as Abednego, Abner, and Absalom. It is unlikely that he had a string of names beginning with Ab. More likely, he was simply known as “Ab”, and either he waffled on what he considered that to be short for, or clerks and relatives filling out official records made different assumptions.

His death certificate records Absalom Kiser, age 80 years 21 days, born 3 July 1833 in Va, died 24 July 1912 in Buffalo precinct, Carter Co., Ky, farmer, father Noah Kiser, mother’s maiden name Dicy Thompson, both born in Va, cause of death apoplexy, informant Richard Kiser, Carter, Ky, burial in home cemetery.

Do not confuse this Abednego Kiser with his first cousin of the same name, same birthplace, and nearly the same age, the son of Elihu Kiser/Kizer and Jane “Jennie” Skeen, who married Margaret Lee Jessee and remained in Virginia. (The latter’s gravestone, in Flat Top, Dickenson Co., Virginia, gives his dates as 16 May 1832 to 1 Nov 1917, although census records suggest he was probably really born in 1833 or 1834.)

Partial Family Warning
This is not a complete family group. They are entered into my database only to document their son Thomas B. Kiser, whom many researchers have mistaken for the Thomas Jefferson Kiser who married Sarah E. Fultz.
