List of children and their years of birth from Esther Kemp, letter dated 7 Nov 1989. Esther lists all of John's children as being born in Botetourt Co., VA, including those from his marriage to Mary Frantz, but the family of Mary's parents, Christian Frantz and Anna Gerst, was living in Clark County, Ohio by 1814, and there are marriages of John's older children from his first wife listed in Preble County marriage bond records as early as 1823. So she must be mistaken. I am listing his second marriage and the birth of all the children from it as Ohio. Most probably the marriage was in either Preble or Clark County (but Clark County marriage bond records do not start until 1818), and children were born in Preble County.

According to p. 28 of "Our Garst Family", there was one son born to the union of Mary Frantz and John Brubaker. Either this meant "at least one", or it was incorrect.

The marriage of John Brubaker to Phebe Harter is listed in the Virginia IGI, batch 8303303, sheet 83. (I have not sent for this batch.)

Lowell Beachler gives the marriage date for John Brubaker and Phoebe Harter as 30 Jan 1798. The 10 Aug 1798 date is from Our Garst Family.

1850 census of Preble Co., OH, Gratis twp, lists on p. 330:
Mary Brubaker, 57, b. Va; George, 18, b. Oh; Elizabeth, 13, b. Oh.
