The annual report of deaths for 1853 to the Kentucky state auditor lists three deaths from flux in this family: S.C. Riddle died 30 July 1853, married, born Bourbon Co., Ky, age 37, parents Lewis & Elizabeth Riddle; Matilda Riddle, age 9 years, born Bath Co., died 7 Aug 1853, parents S. C. & S. A. Riddle; David Riddle, age 6 months, born Bath Co., died 31 July 1853, parents S. C. & S. A. riddle.

Index to Bath Co. probate records lists Stephen C.D. Riddle, Bk. 1, pp. 92-93, 418, and Bk. 2, p. 319. I have not looked these up.

His name is given as Commodore on his son Tillman's death certificate. He was apparently called S.C. to distinguish him from his nephew, the son of John William, or from the elder Comodore Riddle of Morgan Co.

Her death certificate (vol. 37, #14722) states Sarah Ann Riddle, age 89 years 10 mos, born 1822 in Ky, died 28 June 1911 in Grange City, Fleming Co., Ky, widowed, father Tilman Kerrans born in Ky, mother’s maiden name Nancy Kerrans born in Va, cause of death dysetery, informant Tim Cutright, Grange City, Ky. The place of burial is faded; it looks like Edins Clafil. The informant is probably her grandson, Tilman Cutright son of her daughter Elizabeth.

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming prec., lists as family #252:
Sarah A. Riddle, 64. (Her age should be 58 or 59 to be consistent with earlier censuses. Preceding family is that of her son Johnathan, and the following family is that of her son Tilman.)

In 1900 she is listed as age 79, widowed, mother, with her daughter Elizabeth, and in 1910 as age 89, also with Elizabeth.

1850 census of Bath Co., Ky lists this family with S. C.’s parents:
S.C. Riddle 32, Sarah A. 29, Elizabeth 12, John 9, Matilda J. 5, Lewis 4, Susan 1. All born in Kentucky.

1860 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville, enumerated 10 Aug, lists on p. 2216-17 as family #1180:
Sarah Riddle, 39; Elizabeth, 20; Jonathan, 19; Lewis, 14; Susan, 12; Tillman, 10; Lucinda Kearnes, 60. All born in Kentucky.

1870 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville, enumerated 10 Aug, lists on p.18 as family #126:
Sarah Riddle, 48; Elizabeth, 30; Johnathan, 28; Susan, 22; Tillman, 20; Lucinda Kerns, 71. (The next family is that of S.C. & Sarah's son Lewis.)

(The 1860 and 1870 censuses do not show relationships or marital status. Judging by Sarah’s death certificate, and the 1850 census of the Tilman Kerns family, Lucinda would probably be her older sister, or perhaps sister-in-law, not her mother.)
