From a biographical profile of G. W. Evans on p. 112 of Kentucky Genealogy and Biography Vol. V, "Dr. G. W. Evans was raised on a farm, and received but a common-school education. At nineteen he began the study of medicine with his father, and in 1865 graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Penn. He served in the United States service at Fort Monroe for five months, and then came to Madison County and located at White Hall, where he established a large and lucrative practice. In 1881 he located in Richmond and continued his practice. The Doctor is a member of State and county medical associations, and is also president of the board of examiners for the United States Pension Department. He was united in marriage, May 30, 1867, to Nannie Chenault, of Madison County, daughter of Waller and Talitha (Harris) Chenault. To this union nine children were born: Waller (deceased); George; Lettie (deceased); Peter (deceased); Miller (deceased); Leslie; Joseph; Overton and Mary. The Doctor and his wife are members of the Baptist Church, and he is a member of the F. & A. M."
His death certificate records Dr. Geo W Evans, age 69 years 23 days, born 5 Feb 1843 in Ky, died 27 Feb 1913 in Richmond, Madison Co., Kentucky, married, real estate agent, father Peter Evans, mother’s maiden name Lettie Quiesenberry, both born in Ky, cause of death apoplexy organic heart failure, informant L. P. Evans, Richmond, Ky, burial in Richmond, Ky.
