Notes for Homer Cox [Hale]
The Genealogy of William Tobias Phillips, on p. 111, lists Homer Cox as a son of Hiram English Cox & Cassandra B. Quesenberry, with the birthdate "13 Dec 1874". But a birthday notice for Lizzie Cox Phillips on p. 95, Vol. 7, #4, of the Cox-Phillips Newsletter lists Voice Pierce Cox b. 12-24-1874 with the same parents.
The explanation for this conflict is that according to the 1880 census, Homer’s birth name was Hale and he was adopted by Hiram Cock/Cox. Most likely he was a child of Homer’s second wife, Virginia Hale, born before Hiram divorced Cassandra and married Virginia.
