Notes for Lafayette & Louisa (Family)
The One Family Tree database at Ancestry.com says that Lafayette and Louisa were married in Surry, Maryland. That seems unlikely, although Surry Co., North Carolina is a possibility. (I know the type ahead features on genealogy software often trip me up that way.)

1870 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, Indian Valley & Burks Fork townships, enumerated 30 Aug, lists on p. 35 as family #238/226 (next door to his brothers Floyd and Monroe):
Slusher, Lafayette, 26, farmer; Louisa, 23; Eliza A., 5; Ananias M., 3; Martha J., 2; Leota E., 8/12, b. Sep. All born in Virginia.
1880 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, Indian Valley district, enumerated 8 June, lists on p. 20 as family #167/169:
Slusher, Lafayette, 36, physician; Louise, 34, wife; Eliza A., 15, dau; Annanias, 13, son; Martha J., 12, dau; Leoti E., 11, dau; John W., 1/12, b. May, son. All born Va/Va/Va.
(The large gap between Leota and John might ordinarily make me suspect that Louise was a second wife, but the birth of Leota to Lafayette and Louise is recorded in Floyd Co. birth records.)
