His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records David Marion Clark, age 34, residence Clayton, Elliott Co., Ky, born 26 July 1884, occupation farming, nearest relative Ettie Clark, same address.

David is listed with his mother and stepfather in the 1910 census:

Notes for Etta May Conn
Her stone in Black-Trent Cemetery on Trent Ridge near Elliotsville says "Ettie Dehart Clark 1885-1934".
Her death certificate lists Ettie Clark, died 19 June 1934 in Haldeman, Rowan Co., Ky, married, age 49 years 5 mos 4 days, date of birth Jan 23 (year blank) in Elliott Co., Ky, father Freelan Conn, born Elliott Co., Ky, mother’s name field blank, cause of death malignancy of colon, informant Mary Clark, daughter, undertaker family, burial Clayton, Ky. (Note that the age at death is inconsistent with the span between the birth date and death date. Apparently the days were subtracted in the wrong order.)

Rowan Co. marriage book 7, p. 271, records marriage on 26 Nov 1910 of D. M. Clark, 26, s/o Sammie & Susie Clark, to Ettie Dehart, 26, d/o Freelan & Angeline Conn, at Clayton by B. F. Census
1920 census of Rowan Co., Kentucky lists as family #197, next to W. P. Dehart:
David Clark, 36; Ettie, wife, 36; Levi, son, 14; Oscar, son, 16; Mary, dau, 11; Venta, dau, 9; Audra, dau, 8; Opal, dau, 6; Clella, son, 4 6/12; Clayton, son, 1 2/12. All born in Kentucky.
(The genders for Venta=Venton and Audra do not match Oscar Crum's sketch of the family. I suspect the enumerator did not ask for gender, and assigned them on the basis of name.) Levi and Oscar are sons of Etta and her first husband Steven Hubbard Dehart, even though they are listed as Clarks.
The next household is that of David’s mother Mary, with her second husband W. P. Dehart.
1930 census of Rowan Co., Kentucky, Haldeman precinct, enumerated 22 April, lists on p. 9A as family #150:
