Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 31 at the Community Nazarene Church in Wiamauma, Fla. Lewers Funeral Home in Ruskin was in charge of arrangements. Local information was provided by Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.”

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 42, p. 40, records the marriage on 3 Aug 1935 in Morehead of Zera Pettitt, age 24, residence Salt Lick, born in Rowan Co., son of Willie & Mollie Pettitt, to Mabel Flannery, age 16, residence Farmers, born in Rowan Co., daughter of W. N. & Maggie Flannery, by T. F. Lyons, witnesses Galaspie Flannery and Rollo Arnett.
Zora signed his name “Zora Petitt”, but the application and return both spell it as Zera. Maybe he pronounced it “Zurah”, and it was recorded phonetically.
There is a consent note attached: “Mr. Vernon Alfrey I hereby authorize you to issue marriage license to my daughter Mabel and Zora Petitt. Signed Mrs. Maggie Flanery. Witness Galaspia Flanery.”
