“Edgar Bowman, 96, of Owens Road North, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg.
Born Jan. 15, 1915, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Laura Mynhier Bowman. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Altie “Red” Bowman, William “Bill” Bowman and Lilburn Bowman; six sisters, Eula Johnston, Ada Baldridge, Nellie Walters, Corda Baldridge, Betty Baldridge Bowman and Lydia Wallace; two sons, Harold Bowman and Bobby Bowman. His wife of 70 years, Grace Riddle Bowman, whom he married Aug. 17, 1934, passed away Jan. 7, 2005.
Edgar is survived by one son and his wife, Billy Joe and Charlotte Bowman of Clearfield; two daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Bill Thompson of Wallingford and Suzette and R. C. Snipes of Morehead; one brother, Raymond Bowman of Clearfield; 6 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Edgar was a truck driver for Lee Clay Products Company for 30 years and retired from Homer Gregory Lumber Company. He attended the Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Kidd officiating. Burial was in the Bowman Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Mike Bowman, Isaac Bowman, Dustin Adams, Gary Thomas, Chuck Adams and Steve Bonney.
Honorary Pallbearers: Mitch Collins, Richard Gamble and Joseph Littleton Jr.”
