There are no dates on her stone, but she presumably died some time after Nannie was born, and before James married Vonnie Newkirk, which would put it in the range 1907-1909.

Utterback, 21, farmer, residence Paragon, born and father born in Rowan Co, mother born in Morgan Co., to Rose Pettit, 17, residence Morehead, born Rowan Co. License application states the marriage is to be at the residence of the bride, minister’s return states that it was performed at Jim Pettit’s by J. H. Hall, witnesses Boon Payton and Addie Martin.
