Gary D. Lewis’s database had these notes for Farmer Brown: “Farmer died in a car accident in 1935. He had been working in Shelby, Ohio and came home. He was riding with George Brown and they had turned at Jones' Store on West Main. Somewhere between the store and the Clearfield bridge over Triplett Creek, they wrecked and his head was crushed in the wreck. The other person and George Brown were not hurt. He and Celia were divorced and he had married Zona Perry.”

Gary’s database had Farmer’s dates as 20 Feb 1878 to 13 July 1935. The survey of Rowan County cemeteries by the Rowan County Historical Society lists the dates on his gravestone as 28 Feb 1881 to 13 July 1933.

Rowan Co. marriage book 3, p. 57, records the marriage on 31 May 1898 of Farmer Brown, 20, farmer, residence Paragon, born and parents born in Rowan Co., to Celia Burton, 16, residence Deborde, born Carter Co., to be at D. K. Jones, at Frank Dillon's by D. K. Jones, witnesses Marian McLain & Nathan Riddle, surety by John B. Brown.

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pierce precinct, enumerated 12 June, lists on p. 9A as family #148:
Brown, Farmer, 22, b. Feb 1878, day laborer; Celia, wife, 15, b. June 1884, married 2 years, no children; Toliver, Cleon, boarder, 18, b. Apr 1882; Foster, Leander, boarder, 16, b. Jan 1884. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Curiously, the next household, that of Wm. Thurber, also includes a boarder named Leander Foster, age 17, b. Nov 1882.
