His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records John Edward Jones, age 34, born 26 July 1884, residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, occupation farmer, self employed, nearest relative Amanda Jones, wife, same address.
"Past Images of Rowan County"22 lists as a son of David K Jones: "John Ed Jones - July 26, 1884 - Oct 29, 1968, married Mandy Brown".
If he is the same son listed in the 1880 census as John, age 2, then his reported birthdate is wrong by at least six years. But it is consistently reported as 1884 in all later records, so that is what I am recording him under. Most likely the son listed as John in the 1880 census was either misrecorded or his name was changed to William later, and then the name John was reused.
There was another John Edward Jones in Rowan Co. of nearly the same age, son of John Thomas Jones and Kate Rice, married to Bessie Helfingstine, so be careful not to get them confused.
His WW II draft registration card records John Edward Jones, age 58, residence 58 Auburn St., Shelby, Richland Co., Ohio, born 26 July 1884 in Morehead, Ky, nearest relative Mrs. Mandy Jones, same address, employer Baltimore & Ohio R.R., Shelby Junction, Ohio.
The SSDI lists John Jones, born 26 July 1884, died Oct 1968, last residence Shelby, Richland Co., Ohio, SSN issued through the Railroad Board before 1951.
The Ohio deaths database lists John E. Jones, age 84, died 29 Oct 1968 at home in Shelby, Richland Co., Ohio, married.

This marriage is not listed in Rowan Co. marriage records. They were probably married in Morgan Co.
It is also likely that at least Allie, and possibly Sarah and Bill, were children of a previous wife.

I cannot find this family in the 1910 census. (I also cannot find John’s parents, so they may have either been in the same location or have been missed for the same reason.)
1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, precinct #9 (Wagoner), enumerated 2 Jan, lists on p. 1A as family #8/9:
Jones, John Ed, 36, farmer; Manda, wife, 30; Allie, son, 16; Sarah, daughter, 11; Bill, son, 8; Myrtle, daughter, 7; Lloyd, son, 4 3/12; Rosa, daughter, 2 4/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.
Allie looks old to be a son of Manda. I suspect that he may be the child of an earlier marriage for John Ed. Their daughter Vada should be listed as age 6 months, but for some reason is missing.
1930 census of Richland Co., Ohio, Sharon township, Shelby ward 3, enumerated 11 April, lists on p. 13A as family #235/248, at 80 Second St.:
Jones, John J., 49, age at first marriage 21; Manda, wife, 35, age at first marriage 16; Myrtle, dau, 18; Lloyd, son, 15; Rosa, dau, 13; Vada, dau, 11; Eliza, dau, 10; Joseph H., son, 5; Richard, son, 2 6/12. The youngest two sons born Ohio Ky Ky, all others Ky Ky Ky.
Since Manda’s implied birthdate varies so much from census to census, it is not reliable to use the reported age at marriage here to derive a marriage date.
