Notes for Henrietta Margaret Slusher
Floyd Co., VA, birth records (as compiled by Marjorie Fluor Moore) list Henry Slusher (female), b. 2 Nov 1860, father Henry, mother Mary. I believe this record is for Henrietta, even though the birthdate differs from the 2 Mar 1862 date on Henrietta's gravestone. "Nov 1860" and "Mar 1862" can look similar in old handwriting, as can Nancy and Mary, and Nancy is sometimes a nickname for Mary. There is no record in Floyd Co. of any child born to Henry & Nancy Slusher in 1862.
The 184 pages of Slusher family group charts sent to me by Pauline Q. Seigo were apparently compiled by some descendent of Joshua Knowles & Henrietta Slusher, since that is the branch that they are most complete on. Vera Knowles King, d/o Samuel Johnson Knowles and Venie Alice Keith, is the most likely compiler. But the charts are not signed.
